Ortisei is a ski resort located at one of the lowest points in the Val Gardena Valley. Originally part of Austria, the village is also known as Sankt Ulrich. One of the most popular places for tourists is the Val Gardena Valley due to the number of ski runs. The resort’s low location in the valley also makes it ideal for children and beginner skiers. The ski and snow-board season typically starts in December and runs until mid-April.

The closest international airports to Ortisei are located in Verona and Venice. The closest airport for domestic flights is in Bolzano. However, due to the long waits at the airport and high fares, travelers to Ortisei rarely use the Bolzano airport.
