Before the flight, we were assured by phone that the driver would meet us at the airport with a name sign. Everything went exactly as planned: we were met right at the airport exit by the friendly driver Irina. The ride to the hotel was calm and very pleasant. There are several ways to drive from Venice Airport to Ortisei. We normally take the route via the Pedemontana Veneta, Valsugana (SS47), Trento and the A22 towards Bolzano, before continuing into Val Gardena and Ortisei.
A second option runs through the mountains and is roughly 50 km shorter, but it crosses two mountain passes and includes long stretches of narrow, winding road. In practice, it can take around an hour longer than the Valsugana – A22 route.
