Bologna doesn't attract crowds of visitors like other Italian cities. Mostly, people come here because of work - a popular expo center is situated here. However, there are plenty of interesting places in Bologna, that are worth visiting during vacation as well.

A well-preserved historical center, museums, lots of galleries, one of the biggest Catholic cathedrals in the world can impress any traveler. Bologna is a gastronomic paradise for lovers of excellent food. Famous things like mortadella, parmesan, and Parma ham were invented here. Hundreds of restaurants and cafes offer tourists true masterpieces of Italian cuisine.

When going to Bologna, you won't face any difficulties with finding a room in a hotel or hostel. The only thing to bear in mind: it's better to book accommodation in advance if you stay at the dates when large exhibitions are being held in the city. Navigation is easy: use public transportation or book transfer in Bologna. Close proximity to the Adriatic Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea allows tourists visiting seaside, apart from exploring the city itself. Bologna has a transportation system connecting it with other Italian cities, which makes it a convenient starting point for traveling across the country.

Climate is rainy, without temperature fluctuations. Most tourists find it comfortable during any season. Snowless and frostless winters allow visitors to walk outside in light clothes. During summer temperature is rarely higher than 27 degrees, with August being an exception.

One more reason to visit this city is the free admission that a huge amount of museums in Bologna offers. Lovers of archeological landmarks, religious objects, sculptures and art will find something to do here.

Another attractive sight is Bologna University, which looks like a beautiful palace with enormous library.

All city tours start at the main square, which is surrounded by amazing palazzo (palaces). The Basilica of San Petronio is located not far from here. It's considered to be the biggest cathedral among Catholic churches.

A symbol of Bologna is Two Towers located near Rizzolli Street. A long time ago they were erected as city's observation posts. Nowadays, every tourist can enjoy the view from to the top of the towers after climbing five hundred stairs. The route is not simple, but the result is worth it: from the tower top, one can see a spectacular view of Bologna and of neighboring towns. Visiting Bologna, each tourist can discover something new for himself. Everyone would enjoy the hospitality of this city, feel a true Italian spirit and would want to come back here again.
