Sella Ronda Ski Circuit

Sella Ronda is known as 'ski tour' or 'ski carousel' among the avid skiers. Sella massif has got these nicknames due to the possibility of tourists to ski around the mountains and visit four different resorts at the same time. The total length of the route is a bit less than 25 miles (40 kilometers). Even if skiing slowly, a 'traveler' will complete the whole tour in one day.

How to get Sella Ronda

Sella Ronda is located 25 miles (40 kilometers) away from Bolzano airport and 75 miles (120 kilometers) away from Innsbruck. A well-developed network of shuttle buses is connecting these towns with the resort. If you have no time or possibility to wait for the bus, you can always book a taxi Italy.

Another way to reach to Sella Ronda is by train. There are regular buses departing from Bressanone, Bolzano and Chiusa train stations. A bus departing from Bolzano always stops in Ponte Gardena. And if you're coming from Bressanone, you have to make a transfer in Chiusa and take the bus going to Val Gardena. Buses depart almost every hour from these stations. However, you can always book transfer in Italy and reach your destination faster.

Sella Ronda route

Sella Ronda is a unique place: tourists can reach any of the four resorts freely, without changing their accommodation. The 'ski carousel' unites four splendid resorts:

Val Gardena;
Val di Fassa;
Arabba;
Alta Badia.

For avid tourists, the ski tour is a true adventure! The scenic route gives an opportunity to see zones with variable relief and altitude. In the south, skiers have to climb Piz Boe, a peak of the Dolomites with an altitude of almost 10,000 feet (3 kilometers). In the north, another peak is waiting for the tourists: it's called Meisules, and it's a bit smaller than 9,800 feet (3 kilometers).

The route allows skiers to move in both directions: clockwise or counter clockwise. An interesting fact: when going in counter clockwise direction, the route will be a bit longer than a clockwise route. Also, for beginners the whole circuit will be longer, because they will have to make detour to avoid complex slopes.

However, Sella Ronda is not just a mountain range with endless rows of skiers on it. There are also simple cafes where you can rest and drink a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Regular visitors of Sella Ronda like the circuit for the possibility to reach any other resort where the slopes are more interesting.

Where to stay

Accommodation is not a problem here, multiple hotels are ready to welcome tourists. However, their location from the Sella Ronda circuit is different. The best possible solution for vacationing here is renting a house in the valley close to Sella Ronda. For example, three villages are located in Val Gardena where a tourist can find a vast choice of houses for rent. Val di Fassa is even bigger. There are nine villages in this valley. Apart from private houses, it offers guesthouses and hotels with a 2-star rating and higher.

We can't help but mention the food that's served in the hotels. It's quite nourishing and high in calories. The owners take good care of their guests and provide a perfect way for recovery after active skiing.
