The total number of airports in Italy is 40: 16 of them are located in the northern part of the country, 11 airports are in the center and 13 hubs are in the south.

The most popular airports, with thousands of people traveling to and from, are situated in the cities of Milan (Malpensa Airport, Linate Airport and Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport) and Rome (Fiumicino Airport and Ciampino Airport), Catania and Venice. The appearance and fast spread of budget airlines made it possible for many hubs to update their infrastructure to sustain the huge flow of tourists traveling both across Italy and abroad. Rome Fiumicino

Rome Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport is the very first hub in the country and the seventh airport in Europe. It’s the most busy and important airport in Italy with the largest amount of passengers and directions. There are four terminals here: T1, T2, T3, T5.

Milan Malpensa

Milan Malpensa is the second busiest hub in the country. More than 80 airlines are offering flights from this airport. Malpensa consists of two parts: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. They are interconnected by a free shuttle bus that works 24/7 (between 5 AM and 11 PM the waiting time is about 7 minutes, during the night hours the waiting time is 30 minutes).

It’s possible to reach Venice from Marco Polo Airport using one of the following ways: by bus to Piazzale Roma (35 minutes), by taxi in Venice (10 minutes), by vaporetto (water bus used as public transport) or by boat called water taxi.
