Romantic Resort in Venice

Venice is one of the most romantic places of the planet. It's never empty or boring. Tourists who wish to explore its labyrinth of canals and bridges are coming here the whole year round. Using taxi in Venice is way easier than going somewhere by public transport. This Italian city located on the water isn't just a popular destination, one of its main aspects is a rich culture.

Venice regularly holds theatrical festivals, carnivals, international exhibitions, festivals of cinematography and movie awards. Coming here to one of these events means seeing plenty of world top celebrities. Moreover, the city seems to erase this status and reveal only open and cheerful side of people.

Perhaps, this happens due to ancient architecture and old buildings and total absence of modern constructions. There are no bright facades or unusual shapes of the houses or roofs here. Looks like time has frozen here and the city is still living in the 16th century. Nothing has changed in the last few centuries: palaces painted by famous Italian artists and ordinary houses of local citizens are the same.

Romance and risk

Venice is known for its romantic atmosphere that can be seen in everything: starting from dazzling architecture and ending with Italian cuisine. However, along with this romance, there's a danger that climatologists have been discussing for several years already. This danger is the city flooding. The truth is that Venice is gradually going under water. The piles that hold all the houses and buildings are going deeper and deeper in the ground. Another danger is the ocean level rise. Local citizens can both feel and see these changes.

Turns out, that any visit to Venice might be the last one. However, this possible risk attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists here annually. Venice level has lowered at least 0.9 feet (23 centimeters) for the last 100 years. According to some scientists, by 2028 Venice can be announced a city no more suitable for living, and by 2100 it would be completely covered by water. That's why coming here before 2028 is a unique opportunity to see the second Atlantida.

Sightseeing

Most landmarks in Venice are churches, palaces and castles, which were built several centuries ago but are no less exquisite and charming in modern times. However, there many of other places that might be interesting for a tourist. For example, on Murano island, one can visit the factories producing world-famous Venetian glass. With regular tours and excursions held here, everyone is able to witness the way 'the legend is made' with his own eyes.

The Doge's Palace is the main sight of Venice. It's a funny fact that tourists come back from Italy being gloomy about their visits to the palace. Admission is available only after buying the tickets, and it requires people standing in huge lines. However, this problem has been already solved: now, tickets are available online.
